In Basilicata il primo Osservatorio regionale sul Diabete

In Basilicata – la regione con l’indice di diagnosi più alto (otto per cento rispetto a una media nazionale del cinque per cento) – nascerà il primo Osservatorio regionale sul diabete che permetterà di avviare una ricognizione del fenomeno. In Italia, in totale, quasi tre milioni di persone soffrono di diabete, con una prevalenza al Sud e nelle isole (sei per cento), rispetto al Centro (5,1 per cento) e al Nord (quattro per cento).
Stamani, a Roma, all’Università di Tor Vergata, durante un meeting nazionale promosso dall’Osservatorio italiano del diabete l’assessore lucano alla sanità, Attilio Martorano, ha sottoscritto un protocollo di intesa con il rettore dell’Università di Tor Vergata, Renato Lauro, e il vicepresidente dell’Italian barometer diabetes observatory (Ibdo), Gualtiero Riccari.
”L’attivazione di un percorso condiviso con Regione, Università di Roma Tor Vergata e Osservatorio nazionale e il coinvolgimento dei medici lucani e delle realtà sociali presenti sul territorio – ha spiegati Martorano – consentiranno il rafforzamento della struttura di prevenzione e di assistenza tale che il sistema sanitario regionale possa adeguarsi per fronteggiare un fenomeno che ha raggiunto, in Basilicata e in Italia, numeri importanti”.
